Angel Place, Office Tower
Problem:
Required a Sheet-metal finish to all fire rated Plant Room Ductwork sections below 2.2m height, in order to meet Contract / Consultant specification requirements for hardness.
Solution:
Proposed, designed and installed a mechanically reinforced Hard-Coat system, incorporating our Vermitex '7' cement based compound, applied to an LAF expanded metal construction installed to Vermiduct.
Benefit:
A cost effective and timely alternative to Sheet-metal was offered.

Angel Place, Office Tower
Problem:
Required an aesthetic and cost effective alternative to 3 sided exposure SPF ductwork within plant room fire corridor.
Solution:
Proposed and installed our Trimesh® – Vermiduct Bulkhead system to underside of ductwork (1-sided => reduced surface area) providing an aesthetic, textured spray finish with radius turndown at masonry block-work.
Benefit:
A cost effective solution alternative to fire rating a 3 sided ductwork arrangement.

Angel Place, Recital Hall
Problem:
Required a lightweight and cost effective alternative to a complex fire rated sheet metal car park exhaust plenum construction.
Solution:
Proposed, designed and installed our Trimesh® – Vermiduct fire rated plenum to underside of concrete soffit.
Design:
The Trimesh® construction was suspended from the slab above via fire engineered hanging rods & furring channel arrangements (doubling as fixing centres for suspended ceiling and essential services installation below by others). Plenum was fixed at masonry wall and slab via flexible joints (for improved vibration resistance). Trimesh® panels were sheet-metal backed to ensure airtight seal to exhaust air.
Benefit:
A cost effective, lightweight and air tight construction solution.

Westmead Hospital
Problem:
Required the use of PVC for the Laboratories Fume Cabinets within the Hospital to avoid erosion from toxic gases and chemicals.
Solution:
LAF specifically researched and designed a 2-Hour system for the Fume Cabinets and relevant supports to the underside of the metal deck roof.
Benefit:
The system provided a cost-effective alternative to Stainless Steel.

GPO
Problem:
During the Construction of the Substation Risers it was discovered that the Risers would not meet the specified requirements of the Sydney County Council on Fire Rating or the Cross Sectional area of the ductwork.
Solution:
LAF proposed that the Risers be constructed out of Trimesh® that would provide a 3 hour FRL and accommodate the specified cross sectional area.
Benefit:
The System avoided the variation to masonry walls and extensive programme delays. It also proved to be far more economical than Sheet-metal construction.

MUA
Problem:
Required a 2 Way Fire Rated Ceiling System. The original system had been engineered to incorporate Structural Steel Beams that would impose a heavy load onto the concrete Platt Seating.
Solution:
Proposed, designed and installed a lightweight 2 Way Fire Rated Plenum using our specifically designed Trimesh® System.
Benefit:
This system was to reduce the cost and time involved incorporating the additional steelwork and plasterboard construction.
